END POLIO NOW - ROTARY A WORLD PLAYER
While we are one of nine Rotary Clubs in the Poole-Bournemouth-Christchurch conurbation concerned with our local communities, Rotary also takes a key role on the international stage, including playing a vital part in ridding the world of  polio.

Although polio has not been seen in Great Britain for many years, it is vital that we continue our efforts to eliminate the disease worldwide. Rotary clubs in Great Britain and Ireland have so far donated well over
£20 million to the international "End Polio Now" campaign.

Efforts to eradicate polio have been described as one of the finest humanitarian projects the world has known and Rotary has even been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

When we started, over a 1000 new cases were being reported each day. Now we are down to less than a couple of hundred PER YEAR

ABOUT US
Our experience and skills in community work place us in an ideal position to help a wide variety of organisations such as local charities, schools and environmental  groups.

Since 1984 we have raised nearly £300,000 for a variety of local and international charities.  Last year (2014/15) we gave over 1,400 hours of volunteer service to the local community.
